Christmas Music- Christ or Gifts and Holiday Songs?

Christmas is a period that is incomplete without music and awesome parties and events. YES! I said it.

Music concerts, personalized music playlists, carol service and a lot more are traditionally common place in December as Christmas approaches. The crave for good music in your personal space to enjoy the season is also at an all time high. A lot of people want to have lovely Christmas songs to enjoy the season.

However, what exactly is Christmas songs to you? If Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and the beginning of the journey to salvation, what should be the content of songs we play and enjoy for Christmas?

Should it be songs focused on Jesus or songs focused on the activities of the day? Personally I would rather enjoy songs talking about the power in the name of Jesus and Christmas songs that talk about his glory, his power, his light.

Would you prefer “Jingle bell” to “No longer a slave to fear” in your Christmas music collection? Or maybe you prefer Maverick City’s Omemma to Mariah Carey’s “Santa Claus is coming to Town”. Or you just like a healthy mix of both worlds for your playlist this Christmas?
